School's out!

I can't believe that school is out! The children have taken off their shoes, put away their back packs and are running full speed into the sun.

The end of school saw the last year of Dothan Brook for Mary Kate. She was very sad to leave her teacher, Mrs. Lane, who was wonderful for her this year. In the fall she will head off to the Hartford Middle School. She had a wonderful time at field day and enjoyed all that the end of school days brings. She is currently with her best friend Colleen and Colleen's dad and grandparents north of Toronto. They are spoiling her rotten and have taken her to a water park, Toronto for a Celtic Music Festival, the largest Chinese food buffet in the world, Niagara Falls and Canada's Wonderland. Who knows what 'Camp McDermott' has in store for her next.

Charlotte also ended the school year with a new found love of reading, confidence and eager to begin her summer break. Her first night out was spent with her best friend, Omega. They have been inseparable for a long time. We are looking forward to going camping with Omega & her mom in July. Charlotte received a very special award at the awards ceremony last week. She received a 'Courage' award for stopping a bully and helping the child who was being bullied. I don't think you can get much prouder as a mom.

Cameron's countdown to summer finally came to an end. He is so excited to be out! The first thing he does in the morning is go outside and play on the swings. On any given morning you will find him out in his pajamas swinging away with the dogs looking on in protective mode. He is reading everything he can get his hands on and is looking forward to going to the Cape to visit Mimi.

Michael has not quite grasped the idea of summer vacation yet. He keeps asking me, "Is today a day off Mommy?". He is excited every morning when I tell him it is indeed. Michael's main goal this summer is to eat everything he sees. I can not seem to keep him from being hungry. He eats and eats and comes back for more. Michael continues to play with Daniel frequently. Most days you can find him playing with his trucks and trains in any sand/dirt/mud he can find. Let's just say that baths are frequent.

I can't believe that the children are growing so fast. I am in awe of them and what they are becoming. I have to remind myself to sit back and enjoy....they will be asking for the car keys soon.

I have asked to go to permanent nights at work. The extra money will certainly help and I will be home more with the children. I am looking forward to having the law suit over the accident of 2005 settled as well as my vacations in July. I also plan on running away in September by myelf for a little R & R. A spa sounds just about right!

Coming up....the Fourth of July in Hartford. Can't wait!

Summer in Vermont is a beautiful thing. I wouldn't trade if for the world....well maybe a few things!
